Moving Women CEO Attends 5th Regional ALIN Conference

The CEO of Moving Women for Sustainable Development Sierra Leone (MoWSuD-SL) joined regional and international delegates at the 5th Regional Conference of the African Land Institutions Network for Community Rights (ALIN), held from October 14th to 16th, 2025, at the Freetown International Conference Centre.

The three-day event brought together policymakers, civil society leaders, and community representatives to discuss key land-related issues affecting communities across Africa.

The conference was officially opened by the Honorable Minister of Lands, Mr. Sanasie, who represented the Government of Sierra Leone. In his address, Minister

Sanasie emphasized the importance of protecting community land rights and called for collaborative efforts to strengthen equitable and inclusive land governance systems.

Discussions focused on enhancing community participation in land management, promoting equitable access to land, and sharing best practices to safeguard the rights of local communities. Delegates also explored the relationship between land rights, environmental sustainability, and socio-economic development.

At the end of the conference, participants reaffirmed their commitment to regional cooperation and to advocating for policies that prioritize community land rights across Africa. The outcomes of the meeting are expected to inform future strategies and policy frameworks for sustainable land management.
